Buying sex toys isn't exactly easy in some parts of the world. There have been States in the US that have tried to ban them, and there are areas where you have to drive into the bowels of a city and go into some seedy, scary sex shop just to find a damn vibrator.
(Or, like me, you've had to go to your local, suburban sex shop and purchase a vibrator from someone you went to high school with. True story.)
However, in the UK, Durex have made buying *naughty* bits and pieces pretty damn easy.
Sure, you can always go to your local high street and pop into an Anne Summers for all your butt-plug and nipple tassel needs, but not everyone's local high street has an Anne Summers. And, believe it or not, some people are still embarrassed to purchase sex toys online, through fear their roommates (or parents) will discover them in the post.
And really, can you blame them? Who wants their Dad to have to sign for their special delivery of anal beads? NO ONE.
This is exactly why I'm loving the direction in which Durex are taking their products. While their Play line of tingly lubes wasn't exactly my cup of tea, their latest line of Vibes are pretty damn cool.
For example, in the "condom aisle" of your local Sainsburys or Boots, right alongside your condoms and KY Jelly, you can purchase a cock ring. Yes. A. Cock. Ring.
Given the much more eloquent name of "Play Vibrations Ring" that gives "sensual vibrations for both of you", said ring is a, well, ring for a cock, with a nifty little vibrating piece that makes the whole ring go buzz, but also is strategically placed so, during most positions, is in direct contact with a woman's clit.
Aside from making a really loud vibrating noises when in, ahem, certain positions, this ring is actually pretty nifty. The package boasts that it has 30% more power than it used to, and while I can't vouch for that, it does actually have a good amount of oomph.
The good news about the ring is that it can be used both with or without condom - the bad news is that it only has a 20 minute battery life. Depending on how long you and your
partner can last for, it might be a good idea having more than one in the nightstand just in case one craps out
on you mid-thrust.
And who could forget Durex's plentiful range of lubes? Personally, I'm a bit picky about lubes (not a fan of tingly ones or have ingredients in them that I can't pronounce) but Durex have seemingly out done themselves with their range of new "summery" lubes, including five "sensuous" varieties including two fruity cocktails, Pina Colada and Very Cherry.
Apparently having a coconut cocktail flavored lube is "perfect
for summer", which may get some people in the mood. Personally, if there were a BBQed Sausage flavored lube that would be more "summery" to me, but I guess you can't have everything.
You can buy Durex Play Vibrations at leading
pharmacies and supermarkets, (ie Tesco, Sainsburys, Boots and Superdrug) as well as online over at Durex's online shop for around £6.
