A daily dose of sex doesn't always have to be the physical kind. Stimulation our brains with a spot of sexual content is a great way to start the day, but reading a book of erotic short stories on the train to work isn't everyone's cup of tea. Now that the women behind Girl With a One-Track Mind and Belle de Jour have lost their anonymity and moved on, where should a girl look to find a decent sex blog?
First things first - do check that parents, children and the easily offended aren't looking over your shoulder. No? Right, let's continue with some links. The Erotic Notebook is a great place to start, with a great selection of short sexy posts on a variety of themes and subjects, plus a fair few sex toy reviews. Erotica has never been so easy to fit into your day. For those in need of a little "love, lust and light" in their life, a visit to the blog of Rubyyy Jones will provide erotic stories, poetry and sensual images. These blogs are like scrapbooks of naughtiness.
This is where things get a little bit more filthy and so I should probably mention that the links which follow are probably all not safe for work (NSFW). Many are text only, but others contain explicit images, so I shall flag those separately in case that makes a difference. Depends on how eagle-eyed your colleagues and/or IT department are, I suppose! The ever-wonderful Violet Blue continues to blog her open source sex 'nibbles' with interesting opinions and plenty of NSFW photos. I found her on Twitter too, which is where I also discovered Daisy Danger whose true life sex adventures are bound to raise an eyebrow or two.
If you are perhaps looking to broaden your horizons to include a spot of kink - or just like the excitement of being a voyeur! - there are some excellent blogs for you to explore. So far I have only scratched the surface with what I've found, but I think you might like them so will share a couple of links with you. J writes about a variety of new experiences in her ongoing BDSM journey over at One Sub's Mission, while Electronic Doll covers the personal and practical sides of sex, BDSM and non-monogamous relationships in her blog Post Modern Sleaze. It's eye-opening stuff for the more vanilla reader, but highly educational for everyone.
For people who are curious about sex work, like to read sex toy reviews and aren't afraid of a blog with explicit images, hop on over to PurrVersatility where Kitty Stryker will keep you entertained. In addition, if you like photographs of hot naked men and wish there were more of them, you should probably check out Kitty's Andro-Aperture Project too. Spanking model and pornographer Pandora Blake also has an interesting blog and, like many of the other women I have mentioned here, calls herself a feminist.
So, what are your favourite sex blogs? There must be thousands of fantastic writers out there that many of us have yet to discover, so please share your recommendations in the comments. Especially sex blogs written by men as I don't seem to have found many of those lately! Alternatively, if you can't find anything that really tickles your fancy, why not start your own sex blog? Whether you want to write about health, legislation, sexuality, relationships, fucking or kink, with fictional erotica or truthful anonymity, the best thing about blogging is that anything goes.
Lori Smith is the BitchBuzz Sex & Relationships columnist. Sadly, she doesn't seem to have enough time to write her own blog at the moment, let alone read other people's, but is hoping that will change soon.
